The Amazon enchants visitors with its exuberant nature. It comprises the largest tropical rainforest, the largest river basin and the most varied forms of life.
Images like the flight of a group of macaws or the smooth swimming of the pink dolphins will be saved in your memory forever. The beauty of the Meeting of the Waters, where the creamy waters of the Solimőes River meet the dark waters of the Rio Negro, keeping separated for miles, is a spectacle of nature. Taking a shower at warm waters of the Hole Stone Waterfall, located in the middle of the Amazon Rain Forest is an explosion of sensations: the humid air inside the jungle, the sounds of birds and monkeys, the smell of the wood and leafs.
Meeting of the Waters
This natural phenomenon is caused by the confluence of the Negro River’s dark water and the Solimões River’s muddy brown water that come together to form the Amazonas River. For 6 km, both rivers water run side by side, without mixing. This phenomenon is caused by the great difference between the water temperatures and current speeds. The Negro River flows approximately 2km/h at 22ºC, while the Solimões River flows 4 to 6 km/h at 28ºC.
